World of Warcraft Housing: It's Fantastic!

I didn't have much time to play yesterday evening, but I did snare a house overlooking the sea.  I have a couple of neighbors I'll be screening out of my sight lines with trees, once I figure out how to place objects outside.

Despite all of the videos and posts I've seen about housing, which made me think it might be buggy, everything was smooth, and I'm in my home sweet home.   Everything about this introduction to housing, and how easy it is to use, plus the potential for more of everything is just so impressive.  I'm in love.

I had a base set of furniture to work with, but then I went into town and hit all the decor vendors.  I bought lights, chairs, all the bookcase styles, all the books, a few trees and flowers for outside.  I can see I'm going to be a fiend for housing and collecting furnishings.

Ha! See me log into Legion Remix later today because the housing vendor there will be open for business now. Although, I looked at Wowhead to see what you can buy from Remix and there are a lot of ghastly green kind of ugly things there. Maybe grab a few for Halloween decorations.

The initial neighborhood offered had most of the plots taken, it seemed. Looking at Other Options, I picked Weary Wind Point and found a nice plot.   You get an initial tour of the neighborhood, and there are some variations in what the environs are.  The one that stood out and that I would not want to live in was one near the cemetery which atmospherically is much like Duskwood.  Great for those who want it to be Halloween year round.  It was nice to come back out into the sunshine.

Here is my initial quick decorating of my cottage.  You can dye your furniture but need inks from your inscriptionist to make them.  Though the dye vendor said you can make dyes with Alchemy (which Atherne has) or Inscription, all the dyes used Inscription.  Very nice, actually, as Wow ruined Inscription as a Profession with Draenor, in my opinion.  My Inscriptionist is about to get very busy.

I have a tendency to place furniture around the edges of the room, and that's no good.  I look forward to enlarging my house, getting more furnishings, living the life :)

Steam Library Picks

 Yo, I'm IN.

Yesterday, while I was waiting for the endless maintenance for World of Warcraft, I looked at a few potential purchases on Steam.  While I wait for the next Steam Sale, I decided to just go for it, and reinstalled from my Library:

Call of The Sea

I am in a mood for something that has puzzles.  This moody, immersive story is just the thing.

Dragon Age II

This is the game that started it all for me.  It's what I think of when I think Dragon Age, though I have a couple of other versions.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Mass Effect 2 is really my game, but I did play some of Mass Effect 1, and the tiniest bit of Mass Effect 3.  The game is cinematically in my head. When I have replayed any of the versions, I can see the scenes playing out in advance and know what to do.  It is so familiar, yet still spectacular to play and be in the Mass Effect universe.

Atherens November Gaming

Here I am, sitting down to write my first real post in awhile, and Google Accounts doesn’t know who I am on my computer. Somehow, it knows me only on my OLD iPad.  What a royal pain to try to type anything out on this thing.

Even so, let’s tap away and get the jist of things down, then go back later to edit and add pictures.

WoW The War Within

I’ve settled into playing the modern version of the game in recent months. There are so many appealing features in the current game, the greatest of them all being the Warband and the shared bank. My characters everywhere have access to gold and anything my other characters anywhere can make.

The War Within base game remains my favorite expansion. It has been so much fun to play. I can’t say I’m a fan of any of the additional content, from Siren Isle to Ka’resh.  Each of the extra content bits has had something repetitive or unpleasant to work through.  While I applaud the addition of more content after you’re at max level, so there’s always something to do, this time around none of the additions has matched the base game for stories, environments, or playability.

Legion Remix

One bit of extra content that I have been enjoying is Legion Remix. I didn’t enjoy the Pandaria version at all, and Legion is not a favorite expansion.

Somehow, this time around, I’ve liked my character, who has I confess felt powerful from day one. Sometimes you just like the feeling of steamrolling through all the bad guys. Pick on those elites, they are putty in your hands.

I did go into this one with a better attitude. I chose a feral Druid character. My goal was, this time, do all of the things I could do.  I’ve been through all of the areas and have done all the quests offered, and am finishing up Suramar. Then off to the Broken Isles and Argus.

Housing is upon us tomorrow. It sounds not quite finished, but I hope to stake a claim to a small house with a flower and vegetable garden.

WoW Annoyances

Ever since the big bank upgrade, I’ve had the screen disintegrate every single time I open my inventory, then it really goes wild when transferring items to the bank.

Also related to some recent patch, Bag Sort shoves everything to the right into the backpack instead of up and to the left out of the way. The Bag Sort function is one of my favorite modern era features. Just horrible.

Ka’Resh  I’ve really struggled to work through this area, and have walked away from it a few times.  While I like some of the story lines, physically, the area is ugly, dark, and rocks that “being sucked out into space” vibe.  Oddly, the story bits that are in the green, lush domes are the most boring quests possible.

Also! You’re Xal’atath’s slithery minion. So. Awful.

Beta

I opted in for the beta on the day it went live.  All it got me was more spam at login and via email to Upgrade for Beta Access.  I purchased the regular edition in September, and it’s the right choice for me. Also note one of the things you get with the mongo edition is a portrait of Xa’latath!!! Are they insane. It’s probably one of those items they never let you delete, too. Gawd.

Who Moved My Steam Sale?

The fact that I was asking to test an expansion that looks awful made me realize I must be bored. So I found  they moved the fall Steam Sale to late September early October. I’ve got to wait till December 18 for the Winter Sale.

I’ve started a list and am considering what from my current library I might like to play.

I think that’s everything that was on my list. Pictures later, typos, run on sentences and incomplete thots all fixed when I can log in on my pc.
